Reclaiming Human Rights Through Everyday Reflection
14 April 2020

Launched at the height of the pandemic, #OurRightsCampaign was our first major digital advocacy effort. For 30 consecutive days, we shared one human right each day across Twitter, Instagram, and Flipgrid, encouraging students and educators to reflect on how these rights shape their everyday lives and responsibilities as active citizens.
Each post included three reflective questions, prompting participants to think critically about privilege, justice, and equality while connecting global human rights ideas to personal experiences. Creative educational resources and interactive prompts were used to deepen engagement and spark meaningful conversations across classrooms and online communities.
Over 1,000 students and educators from across India engaged in the campaign, contributing videos, essays, and art to express their perspectives and amplify voices from diverse backgrounds. These submissions highlighted a wide range of lived experiences and fostered dialogue around social awareness and empathy.
The campaign reached over 200,000 people online, creating a ripple of awareness about human rights and collective responsibility and encouraging thoughtful action beyond the digital space.
“#OurRightsCampaign helped me realise that knowing my rights is the first step towards protecting others’ rights.” — Student Participant, 2020
