Recognising India’s Young Changemakers Driving Grassroots Impact

On the occasion of National Youth Day 2022, The Tale of Humankind recognised 15 exceptional young changemakers from across India through the first edition of the Changemaker Awards. The initiative aimed to celebrate youth who are creating positive social impact at the grassroots level.
Awarded Changemakers:
- Aditya Dubey (19), Delhi – Founder, Plant A Million Trees: Led large scale plantation drives and campaigns against single use plastic while mobilising youth for climate action.
- Akarsh Shroff (21), Bengaluru – Founder, SPARK: Built a volunteer network using social media to mentor orphans and support children through education and leadership programs.
- Aripina Jayalakshmi (17), Hyderabad – Child Leader, Children’s Parliament: Advocated for civic services such as roads and water access in slum communities while leading child rights initiatives.
- Deepanjali Sahu (18), Odisha – Volunteer, Save the Children India: Worked on menstrual hygiene awareness, child marriage prevention, and led climate focused plantation drives.
- Kavya Gupta (20), Kanpur – Founder, Bhavishya Foundation: Created experiential environmental education programs engaging over 2,000 children through plantations and community learning.
- Manan Sharma (21), Amritsar – Founder, Girl Up Muskurahat: Championed menstrual equity, domestic violence awareness, and coordinated relief fundraising during the pandemic.
- Naman Sonpar (13), Delhi – Founder, Hari Koshish: Led youth environmental campaigns through volunteering programs and large scale plantation activities.
- Namya Joshi (16), Ludhiana – Educator and Innovator: Used gaming based learning tools to teach history and trained over 1,000 teachers and students nationwide.
- Priyaswara Bharti (22), Patna – Founder, Bihar Youth for Child Rights: Mobilised youth advocates to fight child marriage, domestic violence, and child labour through community outreach.
- Rishabh Singh (21), Jalesar – Founder, Anima Drive: Developed a cattle rehabilitation model converting dung into sustainable products to support farmers and gaushalas.
- Rishikesh Amit Nayak (22), Bhubaneswar – Founder, Kishan Know: Created affordable crop disease detection tools using AI along with assistive technology for the disabled.
- Saleha Khan (18), Mumbai – Youth Leader, Save the Children India: Advanced menstrual hygiene awareness in slum communities and advocated dignity and health for young girls.
- Shailendra Singh (21), Rajasthan – Child Rights Activist: Prevented child marriages and rescued children from labour while supporting enrolment back into schools.
- Sia Godika (15), Bengaluru – Founder, Sole Warriors: Launched footwear donation initiatives collecting 15,000 pairs to support barefoot communities.
- Siya Tayal (20), Haryana – Founder, Bee Nifty: Created livelihoods for rural women through recycling fabric into sustainable bags and body positivity campaigns.
The Changemaker Awards 2022 highlighted the immense potential of youth leadership in addressing social challenges. These young leaders demonstrated that purpose driven action combined with empathy and innovation can produce real change and inspire communities nationwide.
