Tale of Humankind and IIT Delhi Launch Metamorphosis: A National Program Turning High School Students into Social Innovators
5 May 2026

NEW DELHI, INDIA — The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), through its Office of Academic Outreach and New Initiatives, has officially joined forces with the Tale of Humankind Foundation to launch Metamorphosis. This multi-phase program is designed to transform Science stream students in classes 10 to 12 from passive learners into active changemakers capable of solving real-world social challenges.
The program begins its first phase on April 28, 2026, offering a structured journey that blends academic rigor with hands-on field execution.
Empowering the Next Generation of Changemakers
“At the Tale of Humankind Foundation, we believe that young students possess the curiosity and drive to solve our most pressing social issues,” said Aniket Gupta, Founder and CEO of Tale of Humankind Foundation. “Through Metamorphosis, we are providing them with a structured platform to move beyond ideas and into the field, ensuring their scientific thinking leads to tangible community impact.”
Adding to this vision, Prof. Shilpi Sharma, Dean of Academic Outreach at IIT Delhi, noted: “IIT Delhi is committed to fostering a culture of innovation from the school level. Metamorphosis offers a unique opportunity for science students to utilize our campus resources and expert mentorship to refine solutions that are both technically sound and socially relevant.”
A Four-Phase Journey of Transformation
Metamorphosis is unique in its experiential approach, moving students through four distinct stages that mirror the journey of a professional social entrepreneur:
- Phase 1: Online Foundation (April 28 – May 4): Students participate in evening sessions focused on research methodologies, design thinking, and the basics of project execution.
- Phase 2: Deep Dive at IIT Delhi (May 18 – 22): Selected participants are invited to the IIT Delhi campus for an intensive lab immersion experience, receiving direct mentorship from faculty and industry experts to refine their prototypes.
- Phase 3: Real-World Implementation (June – November): Moving from theory to practice, students take their ideas into the field, testing and iterating their solutions with actual users to create measurable community impact.
- Phase 4: Impact Showcase (December): The journey concludes with a national showcase where the top performers are recognized for their execution excellence and the real-world results of their projects.
National Impact and Recognition
The program addresses critical themes such as Environment & Climate, Healthcare & Wellbeing, Education, and Agriculture & Rural Innovation. Students who successfully complete the cycle will be recognized as “Metamorphosis Changemakers,” joining an elite network of young leaders.
The Tale of Humankind Foundation has already trained over 1,200 students through its bootcamps, representing more than 40 schools and developing over 200 prototypes. This partnership with IIT Delhi marks a significant scaling of these efforts, aimed at institutionalizing social innovation within the Indian school system.

Applications are currently open for eligible high school science students across India. Full program details, eligibility criteria, and the application form can be found at the official website: https://metamorphosis.taleofhumankind.org.
